Linda Gonzalez
Mrs. Gonzalez started her teaching career in 1969 at St. Vincent de Paul High School, where she taught art, photography, Spanish and art appreciation. She also served as chairperson of the school’s Fine Art Department and yearbook advisor. She coordinated school fund-raisers and fashion and talent shows.
During her 30-year teaching career, she, along with her husband, Michael, coordinated foreign exchange trips. She also taught stained glass at Petaluma Adult Education.
The Gonzalezes have owned and managed Gallery One on Western Avenue for more than 20 years. They also owned a gallery in Sonoma from 2000 to 2005.
Mrs. Gonzalez retired from teaching high school in 1999 to devote more time to the arts and the community. She served on various committees for the Petaluma Downtown Association and Petaluma Chamber of Commerce. She was a supporter of Petaluma Educational Foundation, Hospice of Petaluma and St. Vincent High School and volunteered for a wide variety of causes.
A native of San Francisco, she was educated in Marin County at San Domenico elementary and high schools and graduated from Dominican University with a degree in art and Spanish and a teaching credential in 1959. In 1957, she was selected Miss Marin as part of the Miss America Pageant.
